IP, Domains & Digital Goodwill Desk — An Acquisition Division of AOX

Digital Asset Desk

A Closed Business May Still Own Valuable Digital Assets

A trademark still registered. A domain still resolving. A phone number still ringing. An email list with thousands of subscribers. A YouTube channel with content and views. A social media page with an engaged following.

When a business closes, its digital and intellectual property assets do not automatically disappear — they sit, often still active, still owned by the entity, still potentially valuable. This desk evaluates IP, domains, and digital goodwill for purchase, assignment, or placement.

Digital and IP Assets We Review

From registered trademarks to social media followings, we evaluate the full digital asset stack.

Trademarks — registered and common law
Domain names — active, parked, or expiring
Websites with content, traffic, and SEO value
Landing pages and sales funnels
Google Business Profiles with reviews
Phone numbers — local, toll-free, vanity
Email lists and newsletter subscribers
SMS lists and text subscriber databases
Customer lists and CRM databases
Social media accounts with followers
YouTube channels with subscribers and content
Course libraries and educational content
Media libraries — photos, videos, audio
Ad accounts where transferable
Brand names, logos, and trade dress
Digital products — ebooks, templates, software

What We Evaluate Before Making an Offer

Digital assets require different evaluation than physical assets. Ownership, transferability, platform rules, and market demand all matter.

Who owns the asset — individual, entity, or estate?
Is the trademark registered with the USPTO or common law?
Domain registrar and expiration date — is it still in the entity's control?
Website traffic, content, and SEO history — what is it worth?
Customer list size, recency, and consent status?
Email/SMS list — are subscribers opted in and is the list transferable?
Social media — platform rules on account transfer?
Phone number — is it portable and what is the call volume?
Google Business Profile — verified, reviews, and ranking?
Entity status of the owner — active, dissolved, or inactive?
Platform terms of service — does the platform allow transfer?
Privacy and data protection laws — GDPR, CCPA, CAN-SPAM compliance?
Monetization history — has the asset generated revenue?
Transfer logistics — can the asset be practically transferred?

Who Sends Digital Assets to This Desk

Digital assets accumulate when businesses close, owners retire, or digital property is inherited.

Closed Business Owners

You shut down the business but still own the domain, trademark, phone number, customer list, and website. These are assets — not memories. We evaluate the full digital package.

E-Commerce Sellers

You stopped selling but your domain, email list, product listings, and brand assets have residual value. We evaluate for purchase or placement.

Content Creators

Your course library, YouTube channel, media library, or digital products have value even if you are no longer creating. We evaluate the catalog and audience.

Heirs & Estates

A deceased relative owned domains, trademarks, social accounts, or digital products. The estate still owns them — but nobody knows how to value or sell them. We review the digital estate.

Marketing Agencies

Your client closed but their digital assets — domain, SEO content, email list, phone number — still have value. We evaluate and may purchase or place the assets.

Attorneys

Business dissolution, probate, and bankruptcy attorneys encounter digital and IP assets that clients and courts overlook. Refer the file — we evaluate the digital property.

Digital Assets Die Twice — Once When the Business Closes, and Again When Nobody Transfers Them

A domain name expires. A trademark goes abandoned. A phone number gets reassigned. An email list goes cold. A website goes dark. These assets still had value — but nobody acted before they disappeared.

We evaluate digital and IP assets quickly because their value decays. A domain that resolves today may not resolve next month. A phone number that rings today may be disconnected next quarter. Speed matters.

Not every digital asset is transferable — and we tell you honestly when it is not. Platform rules, privacy laws, consent requirements, and technical limitations sometimes block transfer. When that is the case, the honest answer is that the asset cannot practically be sold.

Important — Platform Rules, Privacy Laws, and Transfer Restrictions

The IP, Domains & Digital Goodwill Desk evaluates digital and IP assets for purchase or placement. Every file requires documented ownership or control of the asset, and the submitter must have authority to transfer or assign the asset.

Platform terms of service, privacy laws, data protection regulations, and consent requirements may limit or prohibit the transfer of certain digital assets. We evaluate these issues upfront and will not proceed with a transaction that violates platform rules or applicable law.

Trademark assignments, domain transfers, and IP licensing involve specific legal procedures. Some transactions require IP counsel review. We work with qualified professionals when required.

This desk is a division of Acquire AOX, operated by Acquire, Inc. We are not a law firm, a domain broker, or an IP valuation firm. We do not provide legal advice regarding trademark, copyright, data privacy, or platform compliance matters.
